The President of the National People's Assembly, Mr. Ibrahim Boughali, chaired a coordination meeting to prepare for the participation of a joint parliamentary delegation in the 152nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU). The event is scheduled to take place in Istanbul, Turkey, from April 15 to 19, according to a statement issued by the Assembly this Sunday.
Mr. Boughali emphasized to the delegation members—which includes deputies from the People's National Assembly, members of the Council of the Nation, and representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs—that “this participation is of particular importance and requires presenting an honorable image of Algeria, especially within the context of an international geopolitical landscape marked by rapid transformations,' the same source added”.
He also stressed “the necessity of strengthening Algeria's presence in this international parliamentary forum by highlighting its active role in defending just causes”.
Mr. Boughali called on the delegation to “capitalize on this occasion to strengthen parliamentary diplomacy by intensifying bilateral meetings with various participating delegations from brotherly and friendly nations, allowing for an exchange of views on issues of common interest”. He also highlighted “the necessity of thorough preparation for the official interventions of the Algerian delegation within committees and plenary sessions, ensuring that Algeria’s voice is delivered clearly and forcefully,” according to the same statement.
He also emphasized “adopting a unified and consistent discourse that reflects the constants of the state’s foreign policy and highlights its firm positions on various international issues”.
The statement concluded that “the meeting ended with an open discussion and an exchange of views and suggestions on ways to ensure the success of this participation and to strengthen the Algerian Parliament’s presence in this significant international event”.
