The Ministry of Post and Telecommunications organized a forum on "Cybersecurity" this Monday in Algiers, aimed at protecting the sector's cyberspace and strengthening its digital resilience. The event coincided with the inauguration of the Sectoral Center for Monitoring, Detection, and Response to Cyber Incidents, according to a ministry statement.

The same source explained that the event took place in the presence of the Minister of Post and Telecommunications, Sid Ali Zerrouki, and the Ambassador of the Republic of South Korea to Algeria, Min Kyung-tae, alongside several officials and experts from the sector.

This event falls within the national strategy aimed at "strengthening prevention, detection, and response capabilities for cyber incidents within the information and communication technology system." The forum served as a "distinguished exchange platform between institutional actors, sector operators, and international partners regarding current and future cybersecurity challenges."

In his speech on the occasion, Mr. Zerrouki emphasized the "strategic importance of cybersecurity for the country's digital sovereignty," noting the "efforts made by the sector to provide Algeria with a monitoring and incident response infrastructure that meets the level of current challenges." He also reaffirmed his "commitment to continuing this momentum to ensure a secure and resilient national cyberspace that complies with the best international standards."

The Minister highlighted the "pivotal role of the Sectoral Center for Monitoring, Detection, and Response to Cyber Incidents, which serves as the operational pillar responsible for continuous monitoring, threat analysis, and response coordination for all sector entities."

For his part, the Ambassador of South Korea praised the "quality of bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the field of cybersecurity," noting the "technical support provided by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) to strengthen national capabilities in detecting and responding to cyber threats."

He further emphasized "his country's keenness to continue and deepen this strategic partnership, particularly through training programs, skill transfers, and the exchange of expertise."

The forum also provided an occasion to present the "progress achieved within the sectoral program to strengthen cybersecurity and future development prospects, particularly regarding cooperation with response and early detection teams, human resource development, and the continuous updating of defense tools," the statement concluded.
