Mandated by the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Prime Minister Mr. Sifi Ghrib oversaw today, Monday, at the "Tosyali" iron and steel complex in Bethioua (Oran), the arrival and unloading of the first shipments of iron ore extracted from the Gara Djebilet mine in Tindouf.
On this occasion, the Prime Minister inspected the various stages of the reception and unloading process, as well as the technical and logistical readiness adopted to ensure the transport of iron ore in compliance with established standards.
Yesterday, Sunday, from Béchar, the President of the Republic had given the signal to launch the train transporting the first shipments of iron ore from the Gara Djebilet mine towards Oran.
This shipment was transported via the new Western Mining Railway Line (Gara Djebilet-Tindouf-Béchar), spanning 950 km, and subsequently via the Béchar-Oran railway line, covering a total distance of approximately 2,000 km.
This strategic project represents a crucial step in valorizing national mineral resources and strengthening the steel industry sector, contributing to the path of economic diversification and achieving sustainable development in Algeria.
Mr. Sifi Ghrib toured various units of the "Tosyali" complex, including those dedicated to storing raw materials arriving from Gara Djebilet, and was briefed on the stages of iron production.
Accompanied by the ministerial delegation, the Prime Minister attended a presentation on the Western Mining Railway Line and the exploitation of the Gara Djebilet mine, delivered by Reda Belhadj, CEO of the National Company for Research and Mining Exploitation (SONAREM).
For his part, the Vice President of the "Tosyali" complex, Alp Topcuoglu, presented an overview of the processing of iron ore extracted from Gara Djebilet at the facility, praising the state's efforts in completing the Western Mining Railway, which he described as "historic." He noted that thanks to the state's efforts and the vision of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Algeria has become an exporter of iron products.
The Prime Minister was accompanied by a high-level ministerial delegation as part of the ceremonial inauguration of the Gara Djebilet-Béchar-Oran mining train service. The delegation included: Minister of State, Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab; Minister of Interior, Local Authorities and Transport, Said Sayoud; Minister of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure, Abdelkader Djelaoui; Minister of Industry, Yahia Bachir; Minister of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion, Kamel Rezig; and Secretary of State to the Minister of Energy and Mines in charge of Mines, Karima Bekir Tafer. Also present were the Director General of Customs, Major General Abdelhafid Bekhouche, and the President of the Algerian Economic Renewal Council (CREA), Kamel Moula.
