Algerian boxer Fatiha Mansouri (-51 kg) won the gold medal at the "Great Silk Way" international tournament held in the Azerbaijani capital, Baku, following her victory in the final against Kazakhstan's Zhansaya Rakhymberdi with a score of (3-2), the Algerian Boxing Federation announced on Monday.
This achievement crowns the participation of the Algerian national boxing team in this international competition, running from April 2 to 8, following a joint preparatory training camp with the local team.
The Algerian delegation, including both men and women, traveled to Baku at the end of March for a training camp from March 26 to April 1, as part of a preparation program outlined by the Algerian Boxing Federation. This camp featured joint training sessions aimed at improving the technical and physical aspects of the boxers ahead of upcoming international events.
The national team's participation in this tournament is considered an important stage for evaluating the level of Algerian boxers against strong competition, as well as enhancing their experience on the international stage.
The gold medal won by Fatiha Mansouri confirms the significant development of Algerian women's boxing and reflects the efforts made by the federal body to provide the best preparation conditions for athletes.
The Algerian delegation participating in this camp and tournament includes eight male and four female boxers, under the supervision of a technical staff led by coach Khaled Harima, assisted by Hamza Aarab for the men's category, while the women's team is overseen by coach Mohamed Amine Waddahi, assisted by Imad Benyettou.
