Attaf Reaffirms Algeria's Position Supporting the Unity of Mali and its Rejection of all Forms of Terrorism

The Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad, and African Affairs, Mr. Ahmed Attaf, reaffirmed this Monday Algeria's clear, firm, and supportive position for the unity of Mali, its land, people, and institutions, and its rejection of all forms and manifestations of terrorism.

This came in a press statement delivered by Mr. Attaf following his reception at the Ministry’s headquarters of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mr. Elmedin Konaković, who is on an official visit to Algeria. During the meeting, Mr. Attaf addressed the “dangerous developments” occurring in Mali, reaffirming Algeria's “clear and firm position in support of Mali’s unity, its land, people, and institutions.”

The Minister of State also emphasized Algeria's position “categorically rejecting all forms and manifestations of terrorism, which cannot be justified or tolerated regardless of its motives and causes; a stance dictated by Algeria's bitter experience with this scourge.”

Mr. Attaf also highlighted Algeria's position “calling for the strengthening of national cohesion within the state of Mali,” explaining that “this national cohesion is the best deterrent to the phenomenon of terrorism, and it is the shield that can truly be relied upon to confront this scourge with all the required effectiveness.”
