The Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Mr. Ahmed Attaf, received yesterday, Monday, at the ministry's headquarters the former Secretary-General of the United Nations, Mr. Ban Ki-moon, who is paying an official visit to Algeria in his capacity as President of the Assembly and Chair of the Council of the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI).
On this occasion, Minister Ahmed Attaf held a one-on-one meeting with Mr. Ban Ki-moon, followed by expanded talks involving members of both delegations.
The discussions provided an opportunity to review ways to strengthen cooperation between Algeria and the Global Green Growth Institute, particularly in the context of finalizing the procedures for opening an office for this international organization in Algeria. Cooperation fields focus especially on promoting sustainable development, food security, environmental protection, green economy development, water resource management, and advancing the use of renewable energy.
The two sides also exchanged views on the prospects of Algeria's contribution to implementing the programs and initiatives of the Global Green Growth Institute across the African continent and the Arab world. This aligns with the pivotal role Algeria plays in supporting South-South cooperation, defending environmental justice principles, and promoting regional integration.
