The Minister of Knowledge Economy, Startups, and Micro-enterprises, Mr. Noureddine Ouadah, announced that the Algerian startup "Singularity Computing" will represent Algeria at the final stage of the regional entrepreneurial competition GEC+Afrika 2026, scheduled to take place on September 16 and 17 in South Africa.
Speaking after the selection ceremony held on Thursday in Algiers, the Minister praised this qualification, explaining that this initiative, overseen by the Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN) across several African countries, aims to promote innovation and entrepreneurship at the continental level.
The Minister noted that over 59 projects were registered in Algeria for this edition. Following several selection stages, ten startups qualified for the national finals, after which "Singularity Computing" was chosen to represent Algeria in the continental competition, where around twenty African countries will participate.
In this regard, the Minister affirmed that his department intends to strengthen the participation of Algerian project holders in major African innovation events, considering these platforms as opportunities for national startups to gain visibility and grow.
Mr. Ouadah also commended the quality of the selection process, overseen by a joint national and international jury, and stressed the importance of transforming innovative projects into successful and competitive enterprises that contribute to the national economy.
Singularity Computing, specialized in scientific computing applied to industrial engineering, develops digital solutions based on applied mathematics and artificial intelligence. According to its founder, Mohamed Labadi, the software designed by the startup supports the design of technological products across various sectors such as aerospace, automotive, and industrial engineering.
Ten startups were selected for the national final phase after several rounds of elimination, during which projects were presented to a jury composed of national and African entrepreneurship experts, some attending in person and others participating via videoconference from South Africa.
The event was organized by the public accelerator "Algeria Venture", in partnership with the Global Entrepreneurship Network–Algeria, with the aim of structuring a dynamic entrepreneurial ecosystem and providing a platform for innovative startups to pitch their projects, connect with investors, and access international networks.
