The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Tuesday that starting next July 9, the date the Hague Convention of October 5, 1961, Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents (Apostille Convention) enters into force for Algeria, public documents issued by several ministerial departments will no longer be subject to traditional consular legalization procedures when intended for use in the states party to this Convention.
This measure concerns documents issued by the Ministries of the Interior, Local Authorities, and Transport; Justice; Higher Education and Scientific Research; National Education; and Vocational Training and Education, indicated a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Citizens can submit an "apostille" request via the dedicated national platform, accessible on the website apostille.gov.dz, which will be available starting next July 9. Alternatively, they can go directly to the competent services under the aforementioned ministerial departments authorized to issue this certificate, according to the same source.
Citizens can also purchase "apostille stamps" at tax collection offices or at Algérie Poste branches throughout the entire national territory, the statement concluded.
