The Minister of Interior, Local Authorities, and Transport, Saïd Sayoud, affirmed while overseeing wildfire fighting operations in Seraïdi (Annaba) alongside a ministerial delegation on instructions from the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, that "the alertness and vigilance of local authorities averted a real disaster."
Mr. Sayoud, along with the Minister of Health, Mohamed Seddik Ait Messaoudene; the Minister of National Solidarity, Family, and Women's Affairs, Soraya Mouloudji; and the Minister of Youth in charge of the Supreme Council for Youth, Mustapha Hidaoui, headed to the Abderrahmane Khane Emergency Medical and Surgical Hospital in the municipality of El Bouni to check on the condition of the patients after their evacuation from the public hospital facility in Seraïdi.
The ministerial delegation is currently overseeing the progress of wildfire fighting operations in Seraïdi and following up on the efforts of the various services deployed to extinguish the fires and care for those affected.
Regarding the situation in Annaba, Mr. Sayoud added: "A major fire broke out yesterday (Tuesday) in the forests of Seraïdi in Annaba and reached the urban area," noting that "the sharp rise in temperatures led to the outbreak of numerous fires across the national territory, affecting almost all northern wilayas."
This Wednesday morning, the Minister of Interior, Local Authorities, and Transport, accompanied by a ministerial delegation and the Director General of Civil Protection, Colonel Boualem Boughlef, arrived in Annaba on instructions from the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to oversee the progress of wildfire fighting operations.
