In a surprising decision, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has issued, through its appeals commission, a ruling stripping the Africa Cup of Nations from the Senegal team and awarding it to the host country.
The decision, published on the official CAF website, stipulates: “The Appeals Commission of the Confederation of African Football has decided, in accordance with Article 84 of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations regulations, to consider the Senegalese national team as having lost by forfeit in the final, and to validate a result of 3-0 in favor of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation”.
