Minister of National Education Mohamed Seghir Sadaoui highlighted on Monday in Algiers his sector's commitment to developing and adapting educational programs to preserve national identity while keeping pace with the evolution of knowledge.
Speaking as a guest at the Algerian Radio Channel I Forum, Mr. Sadaoui specified that the reforms undertaken in the National Education sector aim to strengthen the quality of teaching. He insisted on the need to "develop and adapt educational programs and curricula by drawing inspiration from international experiences, while preserving national identity and societal authenticity, and keeping pace with the evolution of knowledge."
To this end, the State has allocated "a substantial budget, in accordance with the directives of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune," the minister emphasized.
This approach "began gradually at the primary level, then the middle school level, reaching the secondary level, which is considered a major undertaking in preparation for entry into university specialization." He noted that the ministry "entrusted the preparation of studies regarding program development to experts and specialists driven by a high sense of patriotism."
In this regard, the minister mentioned the new specialties the sector is working to introduce at the secondary level, revealing "preparations for the opening of a new stream in the field of computer science. This will ensure initial training for students, allowing them to subsequently access major schools specialized in artificial intelligence and cybersecurity with ease and efficiency."
He recalled the sector's initiative to open "high schools specialized in exact sciences to offer students the opportunity to showcase their skills, further deepen scientific specialization, and engage in practical work." He highlighted that the procedures related to this project "are nearing completion ahead of their presentation to social partners, particularly students' parents."
Furthermore, the minister highlighted the attention his sector pays to students with special needs, recalling the opening of special classes for them in schools, as well as in hospitals for students suffering from serious illnesses. This aims to offer them the possibility to continue their studies and ensure psychological support, in coordination with the Ministries of National Solidarity and Health.
Regarding the teacher recruitment contest announced by the ministry, Mr. Sadaoui affirmed that it will achieve the intended objective of recruiting specialized talent, while offering contract teachers, substitute teachers, and anyone with prior experience the opportunity to participate.
