Saïd Ayachi: Polisario Front to File New Complaint Against European Commission

12/29/2025 - 15:26

The Polisario Front is preparing to file a new complaint against the European Commission for violating the judgment of the High Court of Justice of the European Union (EU), announced Saïd Ayachi, President of the Algerian National Committee of Solidarity with the Sahrawi People (CNASPS), during his appearance this Sunday on the morning show of Algerian Radio's Channel 2.

Mr. Ayachi explained that several associations in solidarity with the Sahrawi people have condemned the European Commission's decision to extend the trade agreement binding the European Union and Morocco. This extension comes despite the agreement's annulment by the Court of Justice of the EU in October 2024 through a definitive ruling banning the marketing of Sahrawi products without the consent of the Sahrawi people.

According to him, Morocco illegally exploits and commercializes the natural resources of Western Sahara—notably agricultural products, phosphate, and fishery resources—by passing them off as Moroccan products on the European market.

Morocco Wants No Witnesses

Asked to comment on the statement recently published by the League for the Protection of Sahrawi Prisoners in Moroccan Prisons (LPPS) and the French Association of Friendship and Solidarity with African Peoples (AFASPA)—in which they affirm that occupation authorities have expelled 27 foreigners this year, including parliamentarians, human rights defenders, and journalists from Spain, the United States, and Portugal—Mr. Ayachi stated that Morocco does not want witnesses to its colonization enterprise, its repression, or its human rights violations, and absolutely does not wish to be exposed for these totally unacceptable practices.

"I would add even more: the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Geneva has been waiting for nine years for permission to visit the occupied territories of Western Sahara following complaints filed by Sahrawis and other NGOs. For its part, the African Court on Human and Peoples' Rights has been waiting for five years now to be able to go there, but Morocco refuses with impunity," he recalled.

responding to a question regarding the media blackout surrounding the Western Sahara issue, the CNASPS president affirmed that this media embargo has lasted for 30 years. "It must not be spoken of so that people do not side with the Sahrawis. Because once one explains to those interested what the problem of Western Sahara is, what the ins and outs are, and why international law is not being applied, people obviously take the side of law and justice, and Morocco does not want that," the speaker explained.
