The Wissam al-Alim El-Djazairi (Algerian Scholar Award) Foundation honored Professor Mohamed Ben Saïd Cherifi and Professor Taïeb Hafsi during a scientific and cultural event held at the lecture hall of the Great Mosque of Algiers, with the participation of thirty-six scientific clubs from various universities and schools across the country.
The event featured an exhibition of Arabic calligraphy created by the calligrapher Mohamed Saïd Cherifi, recognized as one of the most prominent masters of this art and the official calligrapher of the Holy Quran.
In a speech on the occasion, the President of the Scientific Council of the Great Mosque of Algiers, Moussa Ismail, affirmed that the mosque's scientific and cultural mission will continue through clubs and students, the "torchbearers" in building an ambitious national generation. He also praised Cherifi for his efforts in serving the Holy Quran and Taïeb Hafsi, whom he saw as "an expert from whom we will draw experience and the torch to build a new Algeria aspiring to a prosperous future."
Held under the slogan "Algeria has its scholars," the event included scientific symposia discussing the rich experience of the two honorees: calligrapher Mohamed Saïd Cherifi and Professor Taïeb Hafsi, an expert in strategic engineering.
For his part, the President of the Wissam al-Alim El-Djazairi Foundation, Mohamed Bahmani, stated that the selection of Cherifi and Hafsi was in recognition of "their significant contributions and honorable history in human knowledge."
Cherifi expressed his gratitude for this honor, thanking the Foundation, while Professor Taïeb Hafsi appreciated the initiative to recognize Algerian efforts that have contributed to human civilization.
The event's activities continue with broad participation from scientific clubs, in a gathering that underscores Algeria's bet on science and knowledge as the foundation for its upcoming renaissance.
