The United Nations has confirmed that humanitarian aid provided to residents of the Gaza Strip during this January will supply enough food to meet the territory's minimum nutritional needs for the first time since October 2023.

"The January round is the first of its kind since October 2023 where partners had sufficient stock to meet 100 percent of the minimum required caloric needs," said Stéphane Dujarric, Spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, in a statement yesterday, Monday.

This compares to the end of 2025, when every family in Gaza was receiving only between 50 and 75 percent of the calories needed to maintain their health.

Dujarric noted that during the past week alone, the UN and its partners transported more than 10,000 tons of aid. Supplies included food, cooking ingredients, animal fodder, soap, and other hygiene items, as well as diapers, winter clothing, blankets, and mattresses.

The United Nations and more than 50 non-governmental organizations have warned that the Zionist authorities' recent announcement suspending the operations of certain organizations could hinder the delivery of vital aid to civilians.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed "deep concern" over the developments, emphasizing that the Zionist entity must allow the passage of humanitarian aid "unhindered."

Reports indicated continued Zionist airstrikes, shelling, and gunfire in several areas of the Gaza Strip between Tuesday and Friday of last week, according to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).

This comes amidst harsh winter conditions and destructive storms that are damaging infrastructure and placing water, sanitation, and hygiene services under constant strain in the Strip.
