The Deputy Director of Cultural Production and Distribution at the Ministry of Culture and Arts, Wassila Bouhlassa, revealed on Thursday a special program tailored for the 2026 summer season. The program features cultural festivals, film screenings, and various artistic and theatrical performances. She emphasized that the ministry aims, through this initiative, to organize more than 10,000 cultural activities across the country's different wilayas.
Speaking on the "Guest of the Morning" program on the national radio's Channel 2, Bouhlassa explained that the summer season schedule includes 1,155 outdoor film screenings across 14 coastal wilayas, alongside more than 400 theatrical performances. Additionally, there are over 1,000 activities dedicated to children, ranging from cultural competitions and artistic shows to live workshops in various creative fields.
She added that the program also features a lineup of national and international cultural festivals. Among these is the 43rd edition of the Timgad International Festival, which returns to its audience this evening after a four-year absence, with the participation of a selection of artists from Algeria, Tunisia, Mauritania, Chad, and Syria.
Bouhlassa also highlighted other scheduled events, such as the National Hawzi Music Festival in the wilaya of Tlemcen (July 13–17), the Chaoui Song Festival in the wilaya of Khenchela (July 15–18), the Algerian Traditional Dress Festival at the Palais des Rais - Bastion 23 (July 20–23), and the Summer Music Festival at Sablettes Park (July 30–August 5).
The guest of Channel 2 affirmed that Algeria continues to adopt a strategy aimed at cultural openness and showcasing its heritage as an essential part of the national cultural identity. This is reflected in the "Cultural and Artistic Exchange Weeks" initiative between wilayas, organized under the slogan: "Every Wilaya Has a Story of Art and Creativity."
Furthermore, Bouhlassa stated that the Ministry of Culture and Arts is providing financial support for various cultural and artistic projects submitted by cultural associations. This step aims to involve civil society actors in revitalizing community-based cultural activities.
