The Minister of Culture and Arts, Malika Bendouda, discussed with the Director General of the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property, Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Al-Swailem, a joint executive program to enhance cooperation in the fields of intellectual property and creative industries. This took place on the sidelines of the 68th session of the Assemblies of the Member States of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) held in Geneva, Switzerland, according to a statement from the Ministry of Culture and Arts this Wednesday.

The two sides also touched upon "the participation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as a guest of honor at the upcoming edition of the Algiers International Book Fair, thereby enhancing cultural exchange and cooperation between creators and cultural institutions in both countries."

On this occasion, Ms. Bendouda praised "the Saudi experience and the progress made in developing the intellectual property system, as well as the role played by the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property in supporting the knowledge economy and promoting innovation within the framework of the Kingdom's Vision 2030."

In this context, the project to establish the Academy of Copyright and Creative Industries was also presented, while exploring prospects for cooperation with the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property in the areas of training and exchange of expertise.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the two sides agreed to "prepare a joint executive program" between the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property and the National Office of Copyright and Related Rights aimed at "enhancing cooperation, exchanging expertise, developing fields of training and licensing, and supporting cultural and creative industries," the statement added.
