The editorial of the February issue of El Djeich magazine affirmed that Algeria continues steadfastly on its national path towards establishing comprehensive sovereignty. This is based on major strategic achievements that reflect the strength of the national will and the solidity of the choice to rely on self-capabilities and build a diversified and sustainable economy. Below is the full text of the editorial:
This month, our country lives to the rhythm of a major historical achievement, following the official announcement by the President of the Republic, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defence, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, of the launch of the exploitation of the Western Mining Railway Line Béchar - Tindouf - Gara Djebilet, extending over a distance of 950 kilometers. He also gave the signal for the departure of the train transporting the first shipments of iron ore from the Gara Djebilet mine towards Oran via Béchar. This giant strategic project, whose inauguration—as confirmed by the President of the Republic in his speech on this occasion—marks "a moment where we stand on one of the steps of realizing a historic national strategic achievement that was always mentioned as a far-fetched dream. However, this project has materialized, thank God, inspired by the driving spirit that moved the consciences of our ancestors and gave them strength in the face of the usurping colonialism." He highlighted that "all capabilities have been mobilized to achieve the desired goals in a sovereign, proud, and victorious Algeria, which is advancing worthily towards achieving those goals, liberating itself from hydrocarbons, and relying on our self-capabilities. This is thanks to the wealth and bounties that the Almighty has bestowed upon us in all regions of our dear country, and the national wills, competencies, and skills it abounds with, capable of carrying Algeria on their shoulders regardless of the hardship and sacrifices involved."
Furthermore, our country was also bolstered at the end of last month by two new satellites, Alsat-3A and Alsat-3B, within the relentless efforts of the Algerian state to master space technologies, ensuring the upgrade of our system in the field of geospatial information. These are significant gains added to those achieved in recent years, confirming that Algeria is moving with confident and steady steps towards its correct destination.
These strategic achievements come as we live the atmosphere of many immortal occasions that the month of February abounds with. In it, we celebrate the National Martyr's Day to renew to our righteous martyrs the pledge of loyalty to their message and the preservation of their trust. In it, we recall the Sakiet Sidi Youssef massacre, which confirmed the cohesion and solidarity of the two brotherly peoples, Algerian and Tunisian, and reflected the barbarity and brutality of the French occupation. This detestable colonizer began in this month of the year 1960 to execute a series of atrocious crimes in our country, namely the nuclear explosions in our Sahara. We also recall in this month glorious days in the march of independent Algeria, such as the founding of the General Union of Algerian Workers (UGTA), the nationalization of hydrocarbons, and the recovery of the Mers El Kébir naval base, within the framework of our country extending its sovereignty over its wealth and capabilities. Added to these occasions is our celebration of the National Day of Brotherhood and Cohesion between the People and their Army for Democracy.
Certainly, our commemoration of all these occasions, as much as it is a recognition of the righteous and sincere women and men of Algeria who sacrificed what is most precious during the various stages of our country's triumphant march, is a station to draw lessons from their sublime and noble values and sincerity to their immense sacrifices. This is especially true in the current stage, as Algeria experiences transformations on all levels, under the shadow of its promising national renaissance project, for the completion of which we are all waging a battle with all determination, persistence, and boldness.
Just as Algeria today is an oasis of security, stability, and tranquility, it is also a major open workshop for strategic projects, thanks to which it is moving steadily to occupy its place among emerging nations, despite all the desperate and miserable attempts to obstruct and curb its march. The Algerian people have become aware of these attempts, realizing with their sharp insight the malice of their intentions, and understanding with their vigilance and wisdom the baseness of what is promoted by Algeria's enemies, those who harbor deep-seated hatred for it, and the miserable, naive agents who follow in their orbit, having sold their homelands and themselves for the cheapest prices. Inevitably, their malicious schemes will fail, because the content-empty, weak-formed narratives they market are poorly plotted and performed farces. They fall within the context of dirty disinformation campaigns against our country, which will never reach their end nor achieve their vile goals. They will remain mere ashes scattered by the winds and passing summer clouds that provide no shade nor rain, because they are diatribes lacking the minimum elements of professionalism, confirming the floundering and despair of their authors, and their reaching of extremely low and degraded levels.
There is no doubt that Algeria, despite all attempts at distraction, lies, and fabrication, is proceeding on its path with all persistence and determination towards establishing its political and economic independence, thanks to its sincere and honorable daughters and sons. They have sharpened their resolve and awakened their determination to build the new, victorious Algeria, all full of pride in what they offer as they construct with their sweat and toil the landmarks of a bright tomorrow. They are resolved to be at the level of their country's greatness, determined to preserve the trust placed upon their shoulders, as is the case in the People's National Army, the descendant of the National Liberation Army. It continues with all determination and competence to perform its noble constitutional duties, accompanying the developmental march witnessing our country, by contributing to various major projects, and watching over the security of every inch of our pure land against all attempts to harm its security, stability, and the tranquility of its people, in a way that strengthens its immunity and enhances its growth and sovereignty.
