Around 40,000 worshippers performed Isha and Tarawih prayers this Tuesday within the precincts of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem. The prayers took place in an atmosphere of faith and spirituality, despite the restrictions imposed by the Zionist occupation authorities on access to the mosque, according to the Palestinian News Agency (WAFA).
The agency reported, quoting the Islamic Waqf Department in Jerusalem, that tens of thousands of worshippers had flocked to Al-Aqsa Mosque since the evening hours. They performed Isha and Tarawih prayers in its courtyards and roofed prayer halls, in a scene reflecting the Palestinian people's adherence to their right to pray at the First Qibla and the Third Holiest Shrine.
Occupation forces deployed in the vicinity of the Old City and at its gates, checking the identities of a number of young men and obstructing the access of some citizens to the mosque. This occurred at a time when the courtyards of Al-Aqsa witnessed a wide presence of families, the elderly, and stationed worshippers (Murabitin).
During the holy month of Ramadan, the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque witnesses the influx of large numbers of worshippers from the city of Jerusalem and the 1948 lands, amidst continued Zionist restrictions imposed on the entry of worshippers from the West Bank governorates.
