Oran: Rich and Diverse Program for Heritage Month at the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art

The National Public Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Oran (MAMO) has outlined a rich and diverse program to commemorate Heritage Month, scheduled from April 18 to May 18, under the theme: “Our Heritage... Our Civilization”.

This program, which includes exhibitions, symposiums, seminars, workshops, and community outreach activities, aims to highlight Algeria’s heritage treasures while showcasing the tangible and intangible heritage of the city of Oran.

In this context, the event will feature specialized exhibitions on cultural heritage, including a rock art exhibition titled “Algerian Since Time Immemorial,” and a photography exhibition titled “Archaeological Monuments... Memory of Civilization”.

The program also includes workshops on “Cultural Activity Mechanisms and the Protection of Cultural Heritage in the Modern Age,” alongside drawing sessions for Fine Arts students featuring traditional male and female costumes and Oran’s archaeological landmarks, as well as workshops for children titled “I Color My Country's Heritage”.

Regarding symposiums and seminars, several scientific meetings have been programmed, covering topics such as: “Archaeological Sites and their Reconstruction through Digitization and Digital Documentation,” “Rock Art as a Civilizational Witness,” “Fine Arts and Memory,” “Legal Protection of Cultural Heritage,” and “Cultural Heritage and Tourism as an Economic Resource”.

The program also includes film screenings throughout Heritage Month to showcase archaeological landmarks, traditional costumes, culinary dishes, Zellige, and other Algerian heritage treasures.
