Angolan President: "Algeria is a brotherly country and a reliable and steadfast ally"

The President of the Republic of Angola, Mr. João Lourenço, stated on Tuesday that Algeria is "a brotherly country and a reliable and steadfast ally" for Angola, noting that his country achieved independence and sovereignty thanks to the support provided by Algeria.

In a speech delivered during an extraordinary session of Parliament, bringing together both chambers at the Palace of Nations (Club des Pins), in the presence of the President of the People's National Assembly (APN), Mr. Ibrahim Boughali, and members of the Government, the Angolan President specified that Algeria is "a brotherly country and a reliable and constant ally, with whom we share the values that have formed, for many years, the bedrock of solid relations between the two countries."

After praising all the assistance provided by Algeria to Angola, President João Lourenço touched upon the "shared historical legacy uniting the two countries," emphasizing that "thanks to Algeria's support and backing, Angola became an independent and sovereign country, fully aware of the scale of the challenges it faces."
