Angolan President João Lourenço Visits Djamaa El Djazaïr

The President of the Republic of Angola, Mr. João Lourenço, visited the Great Mosque of Algiers (Djamaâ El-Djazaïr) on Wednesday, as part of his state visit to Algeria.

The Angolan President was received by the Rector of the Great Mosque of Algiers, Sheikh Mohamed El Mamoune El Kacimi El Hassani, in the presence of the Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons, Mohamed Arkab, and the Minister of Domestic Trade and Market Regulation, Amel Abdellatif.

During the visit, the distinguished guest toured various facilities of the mosque, including the prayer hall. He also signed the Mosque's Golden Book and received the Medal of the Great Mosque of Algiers as a symbolic gift.

In a statement on this occasion, President João Lourenço expressed his satisfaction with visiting this religious and cultural landmark, stating: "We believe in the encounter of different cultures and religions, which serves peace among peoples throughout the world."

For his part, Sheikh Mohamed El Mamoune El Kacimi El Hassani noted that the Great Mosque of Algiers is "a space for the meeting of peoples and cultures," reflecting "Algeria's conviction that rapprochement between nations begins with mutual understanding and shared human values."

He added that the primary aspirations of African countries are to "transform resources into opportunities and challenges into new horizons for growth and stability."
