The deadline for depositing individual signature forms and collective candidacy declaration files expires this Monday at midnight, in anticipation of the legislative elections scheduled for next July 2.

Under the presidential decree convening the electoral body to elect the members of the National People's Assembly on next July 2, and in accordance with the provisions of the organic law relating to the electoral system, as amended and supplemented, the lists of candidates concerned with submitting individual signature forms must submit them before the deadline for filing candidacies. That is, by May 18, 2026, at midnight, they must be submitted to the head of the wilaya electoral commission or the head of the electoral commission at diplomatic or consular representations abroad, as appropriate. This is for monitoring, accreditation, and the preparation of a report to be handed to them to be attached to the collective candidacy declaration file.

As for the lists of candidates that have not yet deposited the collective candidacy declaration file, the Authority warned that they must contact its wilaya coordinator to schedule an appointment to deposit the collective candidacy declaration file, prior to the deadline for filing candidacies.

Following the convening of the electoral body by the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, political parties and independent candidates had begun the process of withdrawing signature subscription forms from the headquarters of The Independent National Authority of Elections or its wilaya delegations, or at diplomatic or consular representations. Candidacy files are to be deposited no later than 45 days before the polling date.

At this stage, The Independent National Authority of Elections conducts a legal study of the files to ensure they meet the conditions for candidacy, including the new measures contained in the electoral law. It will then issue its reasoned decisions of acceptance or rejection, while allowing candidates whose files are rejected the opportunity to appeal the decisions.

The Independent Authority had previously confirmed the "normal course" of the process of withdrawing individual signature forms, through real-time monitoring via the digital platform prepared for this purpose across all wilayas of the country, including the newly created wilayas.

In this context, it also pointed out that individual signature forms "have been provided in sufficient numbers, allowing candidate lists to make additional withdrawals."

As for the process of authenticating individual signature forms, it is carried out before public officers, represented by the Secretary General of the municipality, the civil status officer, the notary, the bailiff, the official translator and interpreter, the head of the diplomatic or consular post, or any official delegated at the said post, as previously stated by the Authority.
