Algeria, represented by the High Authority for Transparency, Prevention, and Combatting Corruption (Haute Autorité de Transparence, de Prévention et de Lutte contre la Corruption*), *secured the position of Second Vice-President of the Executive Board of the African Association of Anti-Corruption Authorities (AAACA) for a four-year term. This occurred on the sidelines of the Association’s General Assembly, which concluded this Thursday in Nairobi, Kenya, according to a statement from the Authority.

Algeria’s election took place during the renewal of the Executive Board’s structures, where it garnered 26 out of 30 votes. The statement noted that this result "reflects the confidence in the Algerian experience at the African level in the fields of promoting transparency, prevention, and the fight against corruption."

The two-day General Assembly addressed several issues related to strengthening African cooperation in corruption prevention. The final day’s agenda, prior to the elections, included a presentation on cooperation prospects with international partners, focusing on enhancing partnerships and exchanging expertise to support the efforts of specialized African bodies.

During their intervention on the final day, representatives of the High Authority reaffirmed Algeria’s commitment to accompanying African nations in their efforts to prevent and combat corruption by sharing best practices. This is bolstered by the experience Algeria has gained through its membership in the Association's Executive Board, where it has represented North African countries since 2022, according to the same source.
