A delegation from the company Naftal has begun a work mission to Niger, at the invitation of the Nigerien Petroleum Company (Sonidep), to discuss investment and partnership prospects between the two sides, according to a statement released this Thursday by the public company.
The Algerian delegation includes experts and specialists in the fields of fuel infrastructure, Liquefied Petroleum Gas (GPL), bitumen, the manufacturing of butane gas cylinders, and human resources. The statement noted that this visit falls "within the framework of implementing the directives of the country's highest authorities aimed at strengthening the presence of national institutions in African markets and expanding areas of South-South economic cooperation."
On the first day of the visit, a working session was held between the Naftal and Sonidep delegations. During the session, they reviewed the status of the petroleum products market in Niger and its supply mechanisms, as well as the Nigerien company's development strategy and future projects aimed at enhancing its storage, distribution, and processing capabilities.
For its part, the Naftal delegation provided a comprehensive presentation on the pioneering Algerian experience the company has acquired over decades across its various activities. They showcased their expertise in establishing and operating storage and distribution networks, developing fuel and GPL infrastructure, as well as their technical and commercial expertise in the bitumen sector.
The Algerian delegation also highlighted the industrial and technological capabilities of Naftal in the production and filling of butane gas cylinders through the subsidiary BAG (Bouteilles à Gaz), in addition to the system for training and developing human talent, which qualifies the company to accompany energy projects and provide real added value to future partnerships.
These presentations garnered significant interest from the Nigerien side, given the opportunities they provide to benefit from Algerian expertise in developing the hydrocarbons sector. According to the same source, these meetings constituted an opportunity to exchange views on joint investment projects.
The visit program for the coming days includes several meetings with actors and institutions in the sector, as well as technical field visits, which will enrich the ongoing consultations and identify priority areas for cooperation and investment, the Naftal statement added.
