Algeria has secured several important positions and memberships within the structures and mechanisms of the African Union (AU), marking a new confirmation of its distinguished status within the continental organization and the trust its diplomacy holds at the African level.
In this context, Mr Mohamed Khaled, Algeria’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the African Union, will chair the Permanent Representatives' Committee (PRC) on Human Rights, Democracy, and Governance.
In addition to this chairmanship, Algeria was selected as a member of the Ministerial Committee on Candidatures within the International System, the Ministerial Committee on the AU Agenda 2063, the PRC on Environmental Affairs, the Specialized Technical Committee (STC) on Culture, Youth, and Sports, and the STC on Communication and Transport. Algeria was also granted membership in the Continental Operational Centre for Combating Irregular Migration, based in Khartoum.
This diplomatic achievement reflects the trust Algeria enjoys in Africa and confirms its standing within AU institutions. It also highlights its active role in supporting peace, development, and continental integration, thereby strengthening its contribution to shaping African policies and serving the common interests of the continent’s peoples.
