As part of his official visit to the Republic of Belarus, Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Mr. Ahmed Attaf, met this morning with the Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Maxim Ryzhenkov.
On this occasion, the two ministers held a private meeting, followed by an expanded working session involving the delegations of both countries.
The discussions focused on a thorough evaluation of the state of Algerian-Belarusian bilateral relations, particularly in the context of the progress made in implementing the action plan adopted during the official visit of the President of the Republic of Belarus to Algeria in December 2025.
The talks also allowed for the exploration of ways to enhance the positive momentum characterizing relations between the two countries and to elevate the bilateral partnership to broader horizons, in line with the directives of the two heads of state and in response to the aspirations of the two peoples. This specifically concerns priority sectors such as industry, trade, agriculture, the pharmaceutical industry, and mining. Both sides agreed to hold the second session of the Algerian-Belarusian Joint Committee before the end of this year, considering it the most effective mechanism for monitoring the implementation of previous commitments and exploring new areas of cooperation.
Mr. Ahmed Attaf also exchanged views and analyses with his Belarusian counterpart regarding a range of current international and regional issues of mutual interest in light of increasing tensions in international relations. They emphasized the necessity of adhering to international law, multilateral action, and the prioritization of peaceful and diplomatic solutions to international conflicts.
At the conclusion of these talks, the two ministers delivered a statement to the media regarding the key points and priorities agreed upon for implementation in the near future.
