Abdelkader Djidjeli, a professor specializing in plant production, called for adopting a new vision based on prevention and proactivity by rethinking forest management methods, selecting tree species more resistant to drought and fires, and shifting from a post-disaster intervention policy to one built on risk prediction and mitigation before disasters occur.
Djidjeli, who appeared as a guest on the "Economy Multimedia" program, added that reforestation must align with the climatic characteristics of each region. He emphasized adopting the "mosaic forest" concept to limit the spread of fires, alongside leveraging state-of-the-art technologies such as artificial intelligence, drones, satellites, and thermal cameras to enhance early warning systems and speed up emergency response.
Furthermore, Djidjeli urged the involvement of local populations, the strengthening of cross-sectoral coordination, and the direction of investments toward prevention rather than suppression.
