Minister of Interior, Local Authorities, and Transport, Mr. Saïd Sayoud, chaired a periodic coordination meeting dedicated to examining key current files, following up on the implementation of planned programs, and evaluating the response to citizens' concerns, the ministry announced in a statement on Thursday.
The meeting, held Wednesday at the ministry’s headquarters in the presence of central officials, began with a detailed presentation on the assessment of damages caused by forest fires in various wilayas, including housing, livestock, and other affected property. In this context, the Minister insisted on the "imperative to complete all compensation operations before the end of August, in accordance with the instructions of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, while ensuring respect for all procedures within the set deadlines."
Regarding the harvest and threshing campaign, Mr. Sayoud praised "the significant efforts made by the Walis, which have infused considerable momentum into the operation and recorded notable progress since its launch." He emphasized "the need to continue implementing recommendations from previous meetings and to mobilize all means to complete the operation within the fixed deadlines, in order to preserve the national harvest under the best conditions."
Furthermore, the Minister addressed the file regarding the "renewal of the transport fleet with 10,000 buses," giving instructions to "accelerate the implementation of the various procedures necessary to realize the fleet renewal program as soon as possible."
On the subject of road safety, Mr. Sayoud stressed the need to "begin the application of certain provisions of the traffic code, particularly those relating to the provision of all conditions and means required for conducting breathalyzer tests or screening for the consumption of substances that alter mental and physical capacities, in accordance with the deadlines set by law, to contribute to strengthening road safety and reducing traffic accidents." He also insisted on "the need to intensify awareness and outreach campaigns to explain the new provisions of this law and to consolidate the culture of respecting the traffic code among various road users."
Additionally, Mr. Sayoud discussed preparations for the upcoming school start, insisting on the need to take all organizational and proactive measures to ensure a smooth return to school under the best conditions. In the same vein, the Minister gave instructions to "take the necessary preventive and proactive measures in anticipation of weather disturbances that may be recorded during the summer season and early autumn, while ensuring the permanent mobilization of various services to intervene when necessary."
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Minister recalled "the imperative to continue improving the living conditions of citizens in their environment through the intensification of cleaning and environmental preservation operations, as well as strengthening measures to prevent the spread of waterborne diseases, while ensuring continuous field follow-up of these actions across the various wilayas to preserve public health and promote the citizen’s quality of life."
