The Minister of Pharmaceutical Industry, Mr. Wassim Kouidri, discussed this Monday in Algiers with the State Secretary for Trade at the Ministry of Investments, Trade and Industry of the Republic of Kenya, Ms. Regina Akoth Ombam, ways to enhance cooperation and partnership between the two countries in the field of pharmaceutical industry, according to a statement issued by the Ministry.
The same source explained that the meeting provided an opportunity to review the prospects for bilateral cooperation, particularly through Kenya benefiting from Algerian expertise in the production of innovative and biological medicines in accordance with approved international standards.
The talks also touched upon mechanisms to expand cooperation between the two countries by encouraging Algerian economic operators to invest in Kenya through the establishment of pharmaceutical production units, thereby contributing to the transfer of Algerian expertise and experience while promoting industrial integration at the African level.
In this context, Mr. Kouidri affirmed Algeria's readiness to support this orientation, whether through the export of locally manufactured medicines or by realizing joint investment projects that serve the mutual interests of both countries.
With a view to strengthening institutional cooperation, the Minister of Pharmaceutical Industry called for the preparation of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the National Agency for Pharmaceutical Products and its Kenyan counterpart, aimed at developing bilateral cooperation and enhancing the exchange of expertise between the two sides, according to the statement.
