The Minister of Knowledge Economy, Start-ups, and Micro-enterprises, Noureddine Ouadah, presented the Algerian experience in supporting entrepreneurship, promoting innovation, and encouraging the integration of youth into the knowledge economy. This took place during his participation in the proceedings of the World Economic Forum's Annual Meeting of the "New Champions 2026," held in Dalian, China, according to a ministry statement.

The Algerian experience was presented during Mr. Ouadah's participation in a high-level session entitled "Jobs of the Next Billion." This session was dedicated to the challenges and opportunities associated with the entry of one to two billion young people into the global labor market over the next decade, in light of forecasts predicting a limited number of available jobs compared to growing demand.

During this session, Mr. Ouadah delivered an address drawing on the Algerian experience and the achievements made in supporting entrepreneurship, promoting innovation, and accompanying start-ups, as well as the efforts aimed at enabling youth to integrate into the knowledge economy.

Participants in this session affirmed that artificial intelligence technologies, despite their importance, are not sufficient on their own to create jobs in the future. They emphasized the pivotal role of entrepreneurs in leveraging these technologies to develop innovative solutions and productive projects.

They also highlighted the need to address the funding gap for micro-enterprises and start-ups and to simplify administrative procedures in order to facilitate business creation and the launch of new projects.

The discussions also addressed concerns related to the impact of modern technologies on traditional jobs and social protection systems.

Participants concluded that successful growth in the era of artificial intelligence cannot be evaluated solely against financial performance indicators, but also by the ability to improve social well-being, expand opportunities for participation, and guarantee equal opportunities for future generations.

At the end of the session, the speakers emphasized the need to bring about a paradigm shift in economic thinking, moving toward value creation that generates sustainable and inclusive benefits, thereby contributing to job creation and the strengthening of economic and social development.

They also called for the adoption of a long-term approach that favors investment in innovation to serve development objectives.
