A parliamentary delegation from the Council of the Nation is participating in the proceedings of the 10th Summit of Speakers of Parliaments and the 19th Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean (PA-UfM), scheduled to be held in the Arab Republic of Egypt from July 4 to 5, according to a statement issued this Saturday by the Council.

The statement noted that "by appointment of the President of the Council of the Nation, Mr. Azzouz Nasri, a parliamentary delegation from the Council of the Nation is taking part in the proceedings of the 10th Summit of Speakers of Parliaments and the 19th Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean, scheduled to take place in Egypt's New Administrative Capital from July 4 to 5, 2026."

The same source explained that this summit is being held under the theme: "Artificial Intelligence, Youth Engagement, and Parliamentary Diplomacy in the Service of Peace and Stability in the Middle East."

This Euro-Mediterranean parliamentary event constitutes—the statement added—"an important milestone for strengthening dialogue and consultation among member parliaments regarding current regional issues and common challenges."

The summit's proceedings will continue through "the holding of standing committee meetings, working group sessions, as well as meetings of the Bureau and the Expanded Bureau, whose outcomes and recommendations will be presented to the plenary session of the Assembly for adoption and approval during its closing session."

This session also carries "special institutional significance, as it will witness the transition of the Presidency of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean from the Egyptian Parliament to the European Parliament, ensuring the continuity of the Assembly's work and reinforcing its role as a platform for parliamentary dialogue and consultation between the two shores of the Mediterranean."

The same source pointed out that the Algerian Parliament holds "the status of a member in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean, and has been a founding member since 2004."

Mr. Salah Rekik, as head of the delegation; Council member, Chairman of the Committee on Culture, Information, Youth, and Tourism, and Vice-President of the Political Affairs, Security, and Human Rights Committee of the PA-UfM, Mr. Abdelhamid Boucherma; Council member and Vice-President of the Assembly's Committee on Energy, Environment, and Water, Mr. Mohamed Tahar Bilal; in addition to Council member and Vice-President of the Parliamentary Group of the National Democratic Rally (RND), Mr. Ghanem Abderraouf Fakhreddine, as  well as Council members Messrs.
