Gold prices stabilized this Monday near their highest level in two weeks, after last week's lower-than-expected US jobs report slightly dampened expectations for interest rate hikes by the Federal Reserve (the US central bank).

Spot gold was flat at $4,175.02 per ounce, after posting weekly gains of over 2% on Friday, following four consecutive weeks of declines.

US gold futures for August delivery also rose by 1.5% to reach $4,186.80 per ounce.

As for other precious metals, spot silver extended its gains for the fifth consecutive session, rising 0.1% to $62.4773 per ounce, after earlier hitting its highest level since June 23. Spot platinum rose 0.4% to $1,645.05 per ounce, and palladium edged up 0.1% to $1,275.18 per ounce, with both metals heading toward daily gains for the fourth straight session.
