The President of the Republic has decided to respond favorably to the request made by his German counterpart regarding the granting of a pardon for Boualem Sansal

On November 10, 2025, the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, received a request from Mr. Frank-Walter Steinmeier, President of the Federal Republic of Germany, seeking a pardon for Boualem Sansal.

The President of the Republic responded favorably to this request, which drew his attention due to its nature and humanitarian grounds.

In accordance with Article 91, paragraph 8, of the Constitution, and following the required legal consultations, the President of the Republic decided to give a positive response to the request made by His Excellency the President of the Federal Republic of Germany, a friendly country.

The German State will assume the transfer and medical treatment of the person concerned.
