The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, received a message from the President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, in which he thanked him for his humanitarian gesture in responding favorably to his request to pardon Boualem Sansal, according to a statement issued Thursday by the Presidency of the Republic.
"I am delighted with the favorable response given by the Algerian president to my request to pardon the writer Boualem Sansal, who has readers and friends in Germany. This was a source of great concern to me, and it is a good thing that he is free," wrote Frank-Walter Steinmeier in his message.
"I would like to thank my Algerian counterpart, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, for this important humanitarian gesture, which also mirrors the quality of the relations and trust between Germany and Algeria," said the German president
