On Sunday evening in the wilaya of Béchar, the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, attended celebratory performances marking the official launch of the Gara Djebilet-Tindouf-Béchar mining railway line and the commencement of exploitation at the Gara Djebilet mine. The event took place amidst a festive atmosphere, commemorating a historic milestone in the nation's development trajectory.
The ceremony was held at the wilaya’s University Pole, in the presence of senior state officials and members of the government. It featured various artistic performances highlighting, in particular, the region's deep-rooted heritage and authenticity.
This celebration followed the President's historic inauguration of the Gara Djebilet-Tindouf-Béchar mining line and the operational start of the Gara Djebilet mine.
Earlier, the President had signaled the departure of the train transporting the first shipments of iron ore from the Gara Djebilet mine towards Oran. On this occasion, he saluted the workers of the National Rail Transport Company (SNTF) and all those who contributed to the realization of this strategic project. He also exchanged words with several passengers arriving on the first trip via the Western Mining Line.
Additionally, the President had previously viewed a documentary on the strategic project of the Gara Djebilet-Tindouf-Béchar Western Mining Railway. The documentary was produced by Algerian Television under the supervision of the Directorate General of Communication at the Presidency of the Republic.
