The Rector of the Great Mosque of Algiers, Sheikh Mohamed Mamoune El-Kacimi El-Housseini, presided over a ceremony this Tuesday in Algiers marking the second anniversary of the mosque's inauguration, held under the slogan "For an Authentic National Reference".

In his speech during the ceremony attended by senior state officials, several government members, and representatives of various national bodies, the Rector of Djamaâ El-Djazaïr emphasized that President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s inauguration of this religious edifice "was not merely the opening of a unique architectural landmark, but rather a symbolic declaration of the Great Mosque's return to its natural place at the heart of the national project. He described it as a unifying space for worship, knowledge, memory, and foresight, as well as a beacon of unity and wise, responsible openness."

He added that since its inauguration, Djamaâ El-Djazaïr  "has sought to remain faithful to its great responsibility, armed with the state's confidence, bolstered by Algeria's religious and cultural heritage, and open to its regional and international environment."

He noted that everything achieved over the past two years is "the fruit of a national vision that has made moderation its methodology, knowledge its path, and the authentic religious reference a pillar of stability and an impenetrable fortress."

Furthermore, Sheikh El-Kacimi praised the agreements signed during this ceremony between the National Higher School of Islamic Sciences 'Dar El-Quran' at Djamaâ El-Djazaïr, the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), and the University of Ez-Zitouna in Tunisia. He noted that these agreements reflect "a shared awareness that the future of Islamic sciences is built through integration and the exchange of expertise."

He added that Djamaâ El-Djazaïr remains "a space for high-level training, rigorous scientific research, and balanced civilizational dialogue," as well as "a beacon reflecting the Islam that Algeria has known."
