The Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs in charge of the National Community Abroad, Mr. Sofiane Chaib, participated today, Friday, in a high-level session titled: "Global Alliance for Diaspora Policies: Results, Actions, and Sustainability." The session was organized by Georgia and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) on the sidelines of the International Migration Review Forum (IMRF) currently held in New York.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today, Friday, Mr. Sofiane Chaib emphasized during this session the special importance and care the State devotes to strengthening ties with its community abroad, based on a deeply rooted historical and political foundation.
In this context, he reviewed our country's approach toward its national community abroad, which is based on considering it an authentic extension of the nation and a strategic partner in the process of national development.
The Secretary of State also highlighted the various political and institutional gains established by the country's highest authorities for the benefit of the national community abroad, aimed at ensuring their full citizenship and involving them in national life and political decision-making.
On another note, the Secretary of State reviewed the efforts made to modernize and digitalize consular services, which aim to simplify procedures, bring the administration closer to the citizen, and improve the quality of care for the community's concerns.
Furthermore, he addressed the ongoing efforts to strengthen the consular representation network to keep pace with the transformations occurring within our community abroad.
In concluding his remarks, the Secretary of State reaffirmed Algeria's readiness to continue enhancing the involvement of its national community abroad in various national development paths. He also emphasized the commitment to promoting international cooperation and the exchange of expertise and best practices in the field of diaspora policies, thereby consolidating their role as an active partner in the multilateral international system.
