Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, the National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Mr. Ahmed Attaf, asserted Wednesday in Algiers that modernizing the consular apparatus is no longer a technical choice but a top priority and an inevitable necessity. This transformation, he stated, is vital for the state to respond effectively to the aspirations of the national community and to protect its interests abroad.

Speaking at the conclusion of a three-day conference for heads of consular posts held at the Ministry’s headquarters, Mr. Attaf emphasized the "vital importance" of such gatherings. He stressed "the need for these sessions to be held regularly as pivotal platforms to assess, realign, and renew the performance of the consular apparatus."

Mr. Attaf noted that organizing this new edition of the conference for heads of consular posts aligns with "our commitment to the strategic direction established by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, who has placed the national community at the heart of our country’s foreign policy."

The Minister of State spoke at length on the development and modernization of consular performance, emphasizing the need to sustain progress toward this goal to "ensure a more efficient, rapid, and optimal response to the concerns and aspirations of our community."

He continued in the same vein, "Undoubtedly, the ultimate challenge, the prime wager, and the top priority today lies in modernizing our country’s consular apparatus." Modernization, he added, is the "optimal solution to many issues facing the national community abroad, the only way to alleviate the pressure on many Algerian consular posts, and the essential tool for elevating service quality and building trust between the administration and our citizens abroad."

In this regard, he added, "What is required of us today is to mobilize all resources and capabilities to win this wager, ensuring the establishment of a consular administration that is more efficient, more transparent, and more responsive to the aspirations of our national community."

Regarding the conference proceedings, which brought together 43 heads of consular posts from abroad, Mr. Attaf stated that the event was marked by "extensive discussions and practical outcomes aimed at developing consular action and seeking the optimal fulfillment of the concerns and aspirations of the national community living abroad." He further praised the richness of the program, which covered "all aspects pertaining to consular work and its role in serving the national community abroad."
