Today, March 12, 2026, a signing ceremony was held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for an agreement between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Interior, Local Authorities and Transport, represented by the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), aimed at enhancing cooperation in the field of digitizing certain consular services.
The ceremony took place in the presence of the Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs in charge of the National Community Abroad, Mr. Sofiane Chaib. The agreement was signed by the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Lounès Magramane, and the Director General of National Security, Mr. Ali Badaoui.
In his speech on this occasion, the Secretary-General emphasized that this agreement constitutes a new building block in the modernization process of consular services, which the Ministry of Foreign Affairs places among its top priorities, considering the special importance the President of the Republic attaches to our community abroad as an authentic component of the Algerian nation. This dimension received particular attention during the Conference of Heads of Consular Posts held in February 2026, which resulted in numerous relevant recommendations.
This agreement aims to accelerate the processing times for consular services by adopting a new digital system aligned with the national strategy for digital transformation.
This agreement also embodies the shared will of the Foreign Affairs and Interior sectors to consolidate an integrative approach based on enhancing coordination and intensifying cooperation between them, thereby supporting the State's efforts aimed at modernizing administration and improving public service provided both inside and outside the country.
