The President of the Republic of Algeria, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, performed the blessed Eid al-Fitr prayer this Friday morning at Djamaâ El-Djazaïr in Mohammedia (Algiers), in an atmosphere of reverence and serenity.
The blessed Eid al-Fitr prayer was also performed at this religious and cultural landmark by senior state officials, members of the Government, and representatives of the Arab and Islamic diplomatic corps accredited to Algeria, alongside a large congregation of worshippers.
In the two Eid prayer sermons, the Rector of the Great Mosque of Algiers, Sheikh Mohamed Maamoun Al-Kassimi Al-Hassani, highlighted the virtues and values of the holy month of Ramadan, including its acts of worship, obedience, discipline, patience, and piety, as well as the refinement of conduct and other sublime meanings of the holy month. He reminded that the blessed Eid al-Fitr is a day of celebration for all Muslims, in an atmosphere characterized by joy, festivities, and the evocation of the meanings of piety and other righteous deeds following a month of fasting and nightly prayers.
He noted that the blessed Eid al-Fitr is also an occasion to renew the meanings of mercy, mutual forgiveness, and the upholding of kinship ties, as well as to strengthen social bonds through benevolence, affection, solidarity, and the promotion of tolerance. The Rector of Djamaâ El-Djazaïr dwelled upon the message of Islam, which "redresses injustices and establishes the meanings of mercy, peace, tranquility, and justice," recalling on this occasion our country's glorious history, its civilizational heritage, and the immense sacrifices of its people. In this context, he lauded "Algeria's role and its contribution to establishing world peace and supporting just causes" globally, emphasizing that this endeavor is an "ethical asset that will remain ever-present in our country's civilizational path".
After highlighting the Algerian people's celebration of the 64th anniversary of Victory Day (March 19, 1962), he stressed the necessity of "keeping the land of Palestine in mind," renewing the call for Muslims to "unite their resolve in fulfilling their duty toward the home of Al-Aqsa Mosque". In this context, he lauded the "steadfastness of the Palestinian people".
In the conclusion of the sermon, the Rector of Djamaâ El-Djazaïr called upon the Algerian youth to be "a role model and a living extension of the honorable and glorious history of their ancestors and their nation," and to act as "guardians of their country's identity, the constants of their nation, the unity of their land, and its authentic civilizational belonging".
Following the prayer, the President of the Republic received Eid al-Fitr greetings from senior state figures, members of the diplomatic corps of Islamic and Arab countries, as well as a gathering of citizens.
