The Electricity and Gas Regulatory Commission (CREG) and the International Council of Swedish Industry (NIR) signed an agreement on Tuesday in Algiers concerning a partnership program for industrial decarbonization in Algeria, according to a statement from the Ministry of Energy and Renewable Energies.
The signing ceremony took place in the presence of the Secretary General of the Ministry of Energy and Renewable Energies and the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden, along with several high-ranking officials from various ministerial sectors and representatives of national and international partners, the statement added.
The signing provided an opportunity to exchange expertise on industrial decarbonization as one of the most prominent challenges for sustainable development. It also allowed for discussions on cooperation between Algeria and the Kingdom of Sweden aimed at supporting energy transition efforts and promoting a more sustainable and competitive national industry, the source explained.
The meeting also aligns with Algeria's commitment to continuing its path of strengthening international partnerships and integrating into regional and international energy dynamics, according to the same source.
