The Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development, and Fisheries, Mr. Yacine Oualid, received the Ugandan Deputy Minister of Trade and Cooperatives, Mr. Frederick Ngobi Gume, to discuss bilateral cooperation opportunities and prospects, a ministry statement said.

The meeting, held on Wednesday at the ministry’s headquarters in the presence of the Ugandan Ambassador, touched upon "ways to enhance intra-trade and elevate cooperation to the level of the distinguished relations between the two countries."

In this context, both parties discussed the "potential available in Algeria and Uganda to provide a strong impetus to economic partnership and trade exchange through the export and import of animal and plant-based agricultural products." Key products mentioned include coffee, cocoa, milk powder, dates, and various fresh and processed fruits and vegetables that could bolster the bilateral trade balance, the source added.

The two sides also agreed to invite economic operators from both nations to participate in economic and trade events organized in either Algeria or Uganda. Furthermore, they planned to organize a business forum to explore investment opportunities and establish mutually beneficial partnerships, the ministry statement concluded.
