Algeria-Türkiye : Several Bilateral Cooperation Agreements Signed between the Two Countries

The President of the Republic of Algeria, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and his brother the Turkish President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, co-chaired this Thursday evening in Ankara the signing ceremony of several bilateral cooperation agreements. These agreements covered various sectors, including industry, trade, agriculture, media, post, and transport.

These agreements and memoranda of understanding, signed at the Presidential Complex in Ankara, include a cooperation protocol between the Public Television Establishment (EPTV) and the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT) in the field of television. The protocol was signed by the Ambassador of Algeria to Türkiye, Mr. Boumediene Guennad, and the Director General of the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation, Mr. Mehmet Zahid Sobaci.

On the same occasion, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency (AAPI) and the Investment and Finance Office of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye, concerning cooperation in the field of investment promotion. The MoU was signed by the General Manager of the Agency, Mr. Omar Rekkache, and the President of the Turkish Investment and Finance Office, Mr. Burak Dağlıoğlu.

Furthermore, a Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation was signed between the Algerian Ministry of Communication and the Directorate of Communications of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye in the field of combating media disinformation. The MoU was signed by the Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad, and African Affairs, Mr. Ahmed Attaf, and the Head of the Communications Directorate of the Turkish Presidency, Mr. Burhanettin Duran.

In the same context, the two countries signed a Joint Declaration between the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion and the Turkish Ministry of Trade, regarding the initiation of negotiations to conclude a Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA). The declaration was signed by the Minister of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion, Mr. Kamel Rezig, and the Turkish Minister of Trade, Mr. Ömer Bolat.

The list also included an agreement between the Algerian Government and its Turkish counterpart in the field of plant protection and agricultural quarantine. The agreement was signed by the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development, and Fisheries, Mr. Yacine El-Mahdi Oualid, and the Turkish Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Mr. Ibrahim Yumaklı.

On the other hand, the Minister of Industry, Mr. Yahia Bachir, and the Turkish Minister of Industry and Technology, Mr. Mehmet Fatih Kacır, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two ministries on cooperation in the fields of standardization, conformity assessment, and training. Additionally, they signed another MoU regarding the development of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

On another level, the Minister of Interior, Local Communities, and Transport, Mr. Said Sayoud, and the Turkish Minister of Interior, Mr. Mustafa Çiftçi, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two ministries concerning the field of disaster management and emergency situations.

On the same occasion, an agreement was signed between Algeria and Türkiye regarding the mutual recognition of driving licenses. The agreement was signed by the Minister of Interior, Local Communities, and Transport, Mr. Said Sayoud, and the Turkish Minister of Interior, Mr. Mustafa Çiftçi.

An MoU was also signed between the Algerian Government and its Turkish counterpart in the field of care for Mujahideen (War Veterans) and the beneficiaries of Martyrs' rights. The MoU was signed by the Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad, and African Affairs, Mr. Ahmed Attaf, and the Turkish Minister of Family and Social Services, Mrs. Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş.

Bilateral cooperation was further strengthened by an agreement between the Algerian Government and its Turkish counterpart regarding the international road transport of passengers and goods. The agreement was signed by the Minister of Interior, Local Communities, and Transport, Mr. Said Sayoud, and the Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Hakan Fidan.

In addition, an MoU was signed between the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications and the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, regarding cooperation in the field of postal services and telecommunications. The MoU was signed by the Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad, and African Affairs, Mr. Ahmed Attaf, and the Turkish Foreign Minister, Mr. Hakan Fidan.

In conclusion, the Joint Declaration of the first session of the High-Level Algerian-Turkish Strategic Cooperation Council was signed by the President of the Republic of Algeria, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and his Turkish counterpart, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
