American experts representing think tanks specializing in security and strategic issues praised on Tuesday in Algiers the sovereignty of Algeria's decision-making and its comprehensive approach to development.
Speaking during a visit to the National Institute for Global Strategic Studies (INESG) as part of a regional tour, the Senior Director of Middle East Programs at the Atlantic Council think tank, William F. Wechsler, indicated that "the sovereignty Algeria enjoys in making its decisions is admirable."
"Algeria, just like its people, is sovereign and independent in its decisions. This is admirable," he stated, praising the openness of the Algerian people to the world.
Echoing this sentiment, the Executive Director of the Middle East Policy Council, Bassima Alghussein, praised Algeria's comprehensive development approach in tackling various challenges.
"The Algerian approach is not solely based on addressing security and defense challenges, but encompasses all of society's concerns," she emphasized, noting that Algeria and the United States share common views on several international issues.
For his part, Hafed Al Ghwell, from the Stimson Center, noted that the Algerian experience in designing security and strategic policies constitutes "an example to follow." He stated that "the Algerian approach is commendable, in the sense that it moves beyond the pursuit of its narrow interests to care for the interests of the region."
Meanwhile, Romina Bandura, a senior fellow at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), stated that Algerian society "is a young and developed society," considering that this quality "positions Algeria as a pivotal country not only in the region but on an international scale." Youth "is now a determining factor in decision-making," she affirmed.
For her part, Sabina Henneberg, a senior fellow at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, welcomed the fruitful cooperation existing between Algeria and the United States. She emphasized that this cooperation is set to "develop in the coming months and years, particularly in the sectors of education, new technologies, and artificial intelligence."
Speaking on the same occasion, the Director General of INESG, Abdelaziz Medjahed, indicated in a press statement that the objective of this visit is to allow American experts to learn about Algeria's capabilities and gain an understanding of its vision for the future across various fields of activity.
The pivotal role played by Algeria, both regionally and internationally, now makes it "an essential actor in the design of international policies and strategies," he underscored.
