The President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, performed the blessed Eid El-Adha prayer on Wednesday morning at Djamaâ El-Djazaïr in Mohammadia (Algiers), in an atmosphere of reverence and tranquility.
Senior state officials and members of the government, alongside representatives of the diplomatic corps from Arab and Islamic countries accredited to Algeria, as well as a large gathering of worshippers, also performed the Eid El-Adha prayer in this religious and civilizational edifice.
In the two Eid sermons, the Rector of Djamaâ El-Djazaïr, Sheikh Mohamed Maâmoun Al-Kacimi Al-Hassani, highlighted the virtues of the Hajj pilgrimage, its rituals, and its lofty meanings. He reminded the worshippers of the purposes of the blessed Eid El-Adha, which is considered a "school of faith and a season of solidarity and benevolence," and a "station that embodies the meanings of obedience, patience, and fulfilling the covenant with God and the homeland." He recalled the recommended actions on this blessed day, such as giving charity to the poor, maintaining kinship ties, reconciling differences, practicing mutual forgiveness and tolerance, and spreading the values of mutual support and solidarity.
On the same occasion, Sheikh Mohamed Maâmoun Al-Kacimi Al-Hassani highlighted the virtues of "the security and stability that our country enjoys," reminding the congregation that homelands "are preserved through unity, hard work, sincerity, and overcoming the voices of discord." He pointed out that "love for the homeland is a trust to be preserved and a behavior embodied in respecting the law, safeguarding institutions, and cooperating for the greater good."
He also dwelt on the importance of dialogue, demonstrating wisdom, prioritizing the public interest over narrow interests, and placing the nation's interest above all other considerations.
The Rector of Djamaâ El-Djazaïr touched upon the role assigned to preachers, educators, and the media in "protecting generations from despair and frustration," considering this duty a "heavy trust." He added that, given the increasing challenges the world faces today, "homelands need wise and virtuous people who unite rather than divide, build rather than destroy, preserve the prestige of the state, and prioritize the nation's interest over personal interests."
After stating that the pride of nations lies in unity and upholding the interests of the community, Sheikh Mohamed Maâmoun Al-Kacimi Al-Hassani stressed the need to make these blessed days an occasion to "renew loyalty to the homeland and its noble values." He called for "the individual's involvement in serving their society, moving away from negativity, and prioritizing public interests over private ones."
At the conclusion of the sermon, the Rector of Djamaâ El-Djazaïr urged the necessity of reconciliation, the removal of grudges and disputes, mending fences, maintaining family ties, and strengthening the bonds of brotherhood.
Following the prayer, the President of the Republic received Eid El-Adha greetings from senior state officials, representatives of the diplomatic corps of Arab and Islamic countries accredited to Algeria, and a gathering of citizens.
