The Minister of Culture and Arts, Malika Bendouda, examined with the Commander General of the Algerian Muslim Scouts (SMA), Abderrahmane Hamzaoui, ways to strengthen cooperation and partnership between the two parties in the cultural and educational fields, with a view to preserving heritage and consolidating national identity among younger generations, a ministry statement indicated.
Ms. Bendouda chaired a working session at the ministry's headquarters with Mr. Hamzaoui, in the presence of executives from both institutions, dedicated to examining cooperation prospects and ways to strengthen the institutional partnership between the two parties.
The meeting focused on the preparation of an ambitious cooperation agreement aimed at establishing a solid operational framework for coordination and joint action. This will be achieved through the development of a clear roadmap and an integrated annual program of cultural and educational activities, structured around several major strategic axes. These include "the protection and promotion of the tangible and intangible national cultural heritage, highlighting its significance among younger generations, embedding the values of eco-citizenship, promoting a culture of preserving the natural environment and cultural sites, and developing a sense of discovery and attachment to the prestigious national heritage among children and youth."
The agreement will cover specialized cultural training and supervision for scouts and youth activity leaders, as well as the support of scout diplomacy. This aims to enhance Algeria's international influence and highlight the richness of its cultural and civilizational heritage in regional and international forums, according to the same source.
On this occasion, Ms. Bendouda emphasized the need to coordinate efforts and mobilize available resources to supervise and drive cultural action across the entire national territory. She also recommended strengthening the integration of the SMA into national programs, events, and major festivals, with a view to consolidating the values of citizenship and national belonging, and preserving the national memory from oblivion.
For his part, Mr. Hamzaoui praised the special attention given by the Minister of Culture and Arts to the scout movement and its prominent educational and social role.
Welcoming the results of this "fruitful meeting," he emphasized the full readiness of the SMA to implement the joint programs and effectively contribute to the success of cultural and educational projects aimed at young people across the various wilayas of the country.
