The Minister of Post and Telecommunications, Mr. Sid Ali Zerrouki, chaired a coordination meeting via videoconference this Wednesday, as part of the final preparations for the proceedings of the seventh session of the Plenipotentiary Conference of the African Telecommunications Union (ATU). The conference is scheduled to be held on July 23 and 24 in Abuja, Nigeria, according to a ministry statement.
The same source explained that this meeting "was held at the invitation of the Secretary-General of the African Telecommunications Union, and took place in the presence of the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, in his capacity as the incoming President of the seventh (7th) session of the ATU Plenipotentiary Conference."
The meeting falls within the "final preparations for the proceedings of the seventh session of the Plenipotentiary Conference of the African Telecommunications Union, scheduled to be held on July 23 and 24, 2026, in Abuja, the capital of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, in its capacity as the host country for this continental event."
On this occasion, Mr. Zerrouki affirmed "Algeria's commitment to ensuring full coordination with the General Secretariat of the African Telecommunications Union and with the Nigerian authorities, to guarantee the success of this continental milestone, in light of the responsibilities arising from Algeria's presidency of the current session of the Conference," the statement added.
