The Algerian national football team will face its Swiss counterpart on Friday at 4:00 AM (Algerian time) in Vancouver for the Round of 32 of the World Cup, with the objective of winning and pursuing its journey with determination as far as possible in this major global event.

In anticipation of this important match, national coach Vladimir Petkovic hosted the traditional pre-match press conference on Thursday in Vancouver. During the briefing, he affirmed that his team will approach this match against Switzerland "with the intention of winning and going as far as possible in this global competition," emphasizing that the "Greens'" focus will be geared more toward improving their own game rather than dwelling on the opponent's qualities.

The national coach explained that the technical staff is focusing on aspects to improve within the squad, adding, "We will not focus on the strengths or weaknesses of the Swiss team, but on ourselves. We must progress in terms of our playing system and communication between the players."

Regarding the goalkeeper position, he confirmed that all options are available, stating: "We have three goalkeepers ready for the match, and I know who will play and give his best."

Discussing the nature of World Cup matches, the coach assessed that all encounters are difficult, regardless of the opponent: "In the World Cup, there is no easy match, no matter the opponent."

He also acknowledged that Switzerland enjoys a slight advantage in the predictions, while expressing full confidence in his players' ability to advance, adding: "Switzerland has the advantage in the predictions, but we will do what is necessary to qualify."

Furthermore, Petkovic praised the support of the national team's fans, expressing his admiration for the atmosphere created by supporters both in Algeria and abroad, especially following their qualification for the second round.

He stated in this regard: "We were impressed by the celebrations of Algerians everywhere, and I hope they will travel in large numbers to Vancouver to write history."
