The President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, reaffirmed yesterday evening, Wednesday, in Berlin, that opposition members are welcome in Algeria and that every Algerian has the right to criticize, but with the necessity of taking into account our traditions and sanctity, and avoiding insults and slander which only lead to violence and hatred.

During his meeting with the Algerian community residing in the Federal Republic of Germany—held within the framework of his official visit to this country at the invitation of his friend, His Excellency the German President, Frank-Walter Steinmeier—the President of the Republic stated: "Opposition members are welcome, and anyone who opposes in a civilized manner, with ideas, and brings an alternative, allows Algeria to progress significantly in democracy."

The President of the Republic added: "I have said it several times in my television appearances, and I repeat it today before you, that every Algerian has the right to criticize, but they must take into account our traditions and sanctity, as insults and slander only lead to hatred and violence," emphasizing that "whoever disagrees can say they disagree and present their point of view, and these are matters that enrich the national journey; conversely, whoever does not accept this understands nothing."
