Algerian-German Economic Forum Kicks Off in Berlin

The Algerian-German Economic Forum officially kicked off on Friday morning in the German capital, Berlin. The high-profile event gathered senior officials, prominent business leaders, and investors from both nations.

The forum is being held on the sidelines of the official visit by the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to the Federal Republic of Germany, following an invitation from his friend, German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

The proceedings of the forum are expected to culminate in the signing of several agreements spanning promising strategic sectors. These include hydrocarbons, renewable energy, energy transition, the pharmaceutical industry, manufacturing, and advanced technologies.

Delivering a speech at the event, the Minister of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion, Kamel Rezig, highlighted that the forum represents a major economic milestone and "an additional asset in the trajectory of strategic cooperation and the distinguished partnership between the two friendly countries."

For his part, the State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, Mr. Frank Wetzel, praised the new Algerian investment law and its numerous incentives. He emphasized that the cooperation between Algeria and Germany "is defined by success, particularly in the energy sector."

Meanwhile, the Chief Executive of Foreign Trade and Member of the Executive Board of the Association of German Chambers of Commerce and Industry (DIHK), Mr. Volker Treier, underscored the importance of the "dynamic transformation" currently underway in the Algerian economy. He highlighted Algeria's "stimulating investment potential," describing the country as "a crucial partner for Germany."
